This Privacy Policy explains how Octet Software ("we", "us", or "our"), the provider of CaterWise (the "Service"), collects, uses, and protects your information. By using CaterWise you agree to the practices described here.

1. Who we are

CaterWise is operated by Octet Software. If you have questions about this policy or your data, contact us at privacy@octetsoftware.com.

2. Information we collect

Information you provide

Account information — your name, email address, and password when you create an account.
Business content — information you enter to run your catering operation, such as customers and contacts, events and bookings, menus, quotes, orders, and invoices.
Payment information — if you subscribe to a paid plan, billing details are collected and processed by our payment processor (Stripe). We do not store full card numbers on our servers.
Support communications — messages you send us by email or support form.

Information collected automatically

Usage and device data — basic log information such as IP address, browser type, pages viewed, and timestamps, used to operate and secure the Service.
Cookies — we use strictly necessary cookies to keep you signed in and to maintain your session. See "Cookies" below.

3. How we use your information

To provide, maintain, and improve the Service.
To authenticate you and keep your account secure.
To process subscriptions and payments.
To respond to support requests and send essential service notices.
To detect, prevent, and address technical issues, fraud, or abuse.
To comply with legal obligations.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use your business content to train machine-learning models.

4. Your business's data and your customers

If you use CaterWise to store information about your customers, you are the controller of that data and you are responsible for having a lawful basis to store it and for your own privacy obligations to those individuals. We act as a processor handling that data on your behalf.

5. Service providers (sub-processors)

We share information only with vendors who help us run the Service, under contracts that require them to protect it:

Vercel	Application hosting and delivery
Stripe	Subscription billing and payment processing

6. Data retention

We keep your information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service. When you delete your account, we delete or irreversibly anonymize your personal information and business content within 30 days, except where we are required to retain certain records (for example, billing records) to meet legal obligations.

7. Deleting your account

You can delete your account at any time from within the app's settings, which permanently removes your account and associated business content as described above. You may also request deletion by emailing privacy@octetsoftware.com.

8. Your rights

Depending on where you live (for example, under GDPR or the CCPA/CPRA), you may have the right to access, correct, export, or delete your personal information, and to object to or restrict certain processing. To exercise any of these rights, email privacy@octetsoftware.com. We will not discriminate against you for exercising your rights.

9. Security

We use industry-standard measures including encryption in transit (HTTPS), access controls, and row-level data isolation so that each account can only access its own data. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, but we work to protect your information and to promptly address any vulnerability.

10. Cookies

CaterWise uses cookies that are strictly necessary to authenticate you and keep your session active. We do not use third-party advertising cookies.

11. Children's privacy

CaterWise is intended for business use by adults and is not directed to children under 16. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

12. International users

We operate in the United States, and your information may be processed there. By using the Service you understand that your information may be transferred to and processed in the United States.

13. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date above and, for material changes, provide additional notice.
